Preventing Emoji or Dictation Windows from Appearing

If you press the E or D keys in Hitmix Bingo, you may see either the Emoji window or the Dictation window pop up.

This happens because macOS assigns default shortcuts for these features. You can override them for Hitmix Bingo by following the steps below.

🥳 Disabling the Emoji Window

  1. Click the Apple logo  in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. Scroll down and click Keyboard.
  4. Select Keyboard Shortcuts.
  5. Choose App Shortcuts from the sidebar.
  6. Click the + button.
  7. Change Application from All Applications to Hitmix Bingo.
  8. In the Menu Title field, type exactly:

    Emoji & Symbols

  9. In the Keyboard Shortcut field, press Command (⌘) + Option (⌥) + E.
  10. Click Done.

🎤 Disabling the Dictation Window

  1. In the same App Shortcuts section, click the + button again.
  2. Change Application from All Applications to Hitmix Bingo.
  3. In the Menu Title field, type exactly:

    Start Dictation...

⚠️ Make sure to include the three dots (…) at the end.

  4. In the Keyboard Shortcut field, press Command (⌘) + Option (⌥) + D.
  5. Click Done.

💡 Tip:

These custom shortcuts tell macOS to ignore the default Emoji and Dictation triggers when you’re using Hitmix Bingo, so those pop-ups won’t interrupt your gameplay.
