Sharing Bingo Cards Between Computers – Important Information

In general, bingo cards cannot be shared between computers, due to the way the software tracks played media.

The software records the exact file path of each media file (e.g., songs or videos) as it plays them, and uses that information to mark off items on the bingo cards. This file path includes details like the username and computer name, which means the same file on two different computers might be seen as completely different.

Example:

  • Computer 1: C:\Users\Nick\Music\Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline.mp3
  • Computer 2: C:\Users\NickB\Music\Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline.mp3

Can It Be Made to Work?

It’s technically possible, but it requires some advanced setup:

  • You would need to manually edit the XML files the software uses, to make sure the file paths are identical.
  • However, this is risky - editing these files incorrectly can corrupt your entire bingo database.

Safer Alternatives:

  • Use the same username on both computers so the file path remains consistent.
  • Store your media on an external drive (e.g., E:\Music...) and make sure it's connected to the same drive letter on both machines.

File Locations (Default):

  • Playlists: C:\Users\YourUsername\Hitmix Bingo\user\
  • Bingo Cards / Results: C:\Users\YourUsername\Hitmix Bingo\result\
